It's not even dual boot: I have a switch that turns on the drive I want to use, so the same machine can work either as Windows 7 or Windows 10.
The current license should in no way be related to Windows 7 - I have it installed on a separate hard drive. I am spending money on the new build, but I just don't want to spend for what I already have, such as a Windows license. I don't trust those automatic transfer programs, I can reinstall my software myself, that's not a problem. I prefer Educational since it gives more control over Windows, but it's a bit of a pain to deal with the University bureaucracy (I already called a few places, people answering phones typically don't know anything). Well this is not an OEM license (not an OEM machine either) and it's not retail. Are there any caveats on transferring this license or should I just use the standard tutorial?
The version I have is Educational (with a bit more control over updates and such). So, since I already have Windows 10, I don't want to spend more money on it and would like to transfer the current license (I will need a clean install of course) to the new machine. But, I'm building a new machine and it seems unlikely I'll be able to install Windows 7 on it, simply because the lack of drivers.
but it works great for me and I simply hate the way Windows 10 is integrated with the internet (mostly, connecting all the time to servers I don't know where for purposes unknown to me). I have it installed on a separate SSD in my current machine, I use it rarely for testing purposes - my main OS is still Windows 7. Moreover, my question is specific to the educational version of Windows. This might have been discussed already, but lately search has not been friendly to me.
